For our drones, we do not distinguish a level for the user, but from the capabilities and possibilities of the drone:
interference
- Discover - excellent image quality, short range, short flight time
- Hobby - good image quality, small to medium range, average flight time
- Professional - maximum image quality, long range, long flight time
Anyone can fly a DJI drone!
In recent years, drones have improved so much, and especially the DJI drones, that anyone can actually fly them, provided you are familiar with the operation (manual) and the rules . They have become extremely safe and reliable, thanks to more powerful drives and advanced sensors that allow the drone to detect or even avoid obstacles. If the connection is lost, all DJI drones will even automatically return to the starting point; this is called Return To Home.
Higher price = easier flying
We even dare to say that how du The (DJI) drone, the easier it is to fly, but the harder it is to master. The more expensive, larger drones are more powerful and have more intelligent software, better sensors, higher wind resistance and a more powerful connection. The price also increases the possibilities of the drone and the top segment has so many options and possibilities that you are just sweet before you have mastered everything; take your time. But always be careful and use common sense, because most drone crashes happen when you get too relaxed.
DJI Mavic Mini
The Mavic Mini is the very latest DJI drone (November 2019) with a very modest price but impressive features. The DJI Mavic Mini is the ultimate flying point & shoot camera: stabilized high-quality camera, incredibly compact, foldable and so light that it is considered a toy for the new legislation (2020) in the Netherlands. The Mavic Mini is extremely easy to use; even your grandparents fly like a pro within 5 minutes. This super compact camera drone gives a lot of freedom and is therefore ideal for holidays. Your friends and family will fall off their seats when they see your "holiday snapshots" of stunning panoramas shot at great heights. For its size, the Mavic Mini has an unprecedentedly long flight time of up to 30 minutes, because up to now we saw at most 12 minutes in this extremely small size. The Mavic Mini nevertheless offers the impressive stability and performance that we have come to expect from all DJI drones. The wind resistance is very high, so you don't have to worry about your drone blowing away; but of course you have to be careful when filming on the coast, for example. However, the range and power are large enough to almost always get the Mavic Mini safely to the ground, otherwise there is always the Return To Home function. The good wind resistance in combination with the excellent 3-axis gimbal do not even make reasonably strong gusts. barely visible in your (video) images. In addition, the Mavic Mini has the necessary Intelligent Flight Modes and Quick Shots that enable fully automated scenarios with which even the most inexperienced pilot can effortlessly make professional recordings.
Good image quality
With photo quality up to 12 megapixel, video quality up to 2.7K, a bit rate of 40mbit / s and plenty of flexibility to achieve good results in all lighting conditions, you will not fall short with the Mavic Mini. The photos and videos are beautiful and are mechanically stabilized so that they are always sharp and free from vibration / shock, so they are always of professional quality even if you have no experience flying a drone. The Mavic Mini does not have advanced color profiles, so unfortunately you will not be able to do much extra in post-processing, but this drone is not intended for that.
Hasselblad, together with DJI, has developed the best gimbal camera for the Mavic 2 Pro, which guarantees excellent photos (20 megapixel, ISO up to 12800), beautiful videos (100 Mbit) and the most extensive post-processing possibilities thanks to the new color profiles Dlog- M (10bit) and HDR video (HLG 10bit).
Average range
The Mavic Mini uses an improved Advanced Wi-Fi module and antennas. Although the range and signal quality are better than that of the DJI Spark and Mavic Air, it remains highly dependent on conditions and interference. The signal is sensitive (er) to interference, making the range variable and quite limited. The flight time is a maximum of 30 minutes and is therefore very considering the range and the high top speed. The Mavic Mini is mainly intended for average distances of 500 to 1000 meters, although we have also managed to achieve distances of 2 and even more than 3 kilometers with Advanced Wi-Fi.

DJI Mavic 2 Air
The Mavic Air (early 2018) offers a particularly favorable ratio between capabilities, performance and size. The Mavic Air is comparable to the Mavic Pro / Platinum but with a considerably shorter range, shorter battery life, but above all a much smaller size. The Mavic Air literally fits in your jacket pocket and is therefore even easier to take with you everywhere. Nevertheless, the Mavic Air does have front and rear sensors and can avoid obstacles in those directions without stopping. With the Mavic Air you can effortlessly take beautiful pictures at short distances during trips, outings and holidays that will amaze your friends and family.
Good image quality
The 2-axis gimbal camera of the Mavic Air compensates for movement of the drone (eg by strong wind) very well, but due to the lack of the third axis, it can sometimes be visible in your images. You can take beautiful photos (12 megapixel) and videos (100 Mbit) with the Mavic Air, and offer plenty of post-processing options (color profile D-Cinelike).
Average range
The Mavic Air uses an improved Wi-Fi module and antennas. Although the range and signal quality are better than that of the Spark, it remains highly dependent on conditions and interference. The signal is sensitive (er) to interference, making the range variable and quite limited. The flight time is a maximum of 21 minutes and is therefore spacious given the range and the high top speed. The Mavic Pro Platinum (late 2017) is an improvement on the iconic Mavic Pro, DJI's first foldable drone and a revolution in the world of drones. The Mavic Platinum is a robust drone that, especially in 2019, is relatively inexpensive to purchase and nevertheless serious performance and possibly present offers. The main improvement of the Platinum was the much lower noise level and the longer flight time (+3 minutes).
Good image quality
The 3-axis gimbal camera of the Mavic Pro Platinum compensates for movement of the drone (eg by strong wind) very well and you hardly see it in your images. You can take great photos (12 megapixel, max ISO 1600) and great videos (60 Mbit) with the Mavic Pro Platinum, and offers plenty of post-processing options (color profile D-Cinelike).

The Spark (mid 2017) is still DJI's most affordable yet advanced drone with 2-axis gimbal image stabilization, advanced flight controllers and impressive arsenal capabilities. This "selfie" drone is ideal to take with you as a flying camera for a unique perspective during travel, outings and holidays. You can launch the Spark from the palm of your hand and give commands without remote control, such as tracking, taking photos and filming. The Spark is therefore very suitable for fast point & shoot photos and videos due to the PalmLaunch function and even optimized for very short distances (including through Shallow Focus mode). A great drone to experience unforgettable holiday photos and videos!
Excellent image quality
The Spark's 2-axis gimbal camera compensates for movement of the drone (eg by strong wind) quite well, but due to the lack of the third axis, it can sometimes be visible in your images. You can take beautiful photos (12 megapixel) and videos (100 Mbit) with the Mavic Air, and offer plenty of post-processing options (color profile D-Cinelike).
Small range
The Spark uses Wi-Fi. The signal is quite sensitive to interference, making the range variable and very limited. You can fly the Spark with your phone, or even with just hand gestures. With a remote control, the range increases to a maximum of 500 meters; ontroller-iphone-ipad-usb-c-and-micro-usb / "> an OTG cable can improve this even more. Ryze Tello, powered by DJI
The Tello (early 2018) is a cheap toy drone (approx. € 100) that nevertheless offers adult flight performance because of the advanced DJI flight controllers that this drone is equipped with. You can launch the Tello simply and quickly by throwing it in the air, making it ideal for fast point & shoot work. The Tello is especially great to fly with, especially in combination with 3D Goggles (telephone). In addition, you can program the drone yourself to perform stunts and patterns.
Poor image quality
The 5MP camera has no mechanical stabilization, but you can still take nice photos under the right conditions. In videos you can clearly see the movement of the drone.
Very small range
The Tello flies on a Wi-Fi signal with a range of 50 meters and a maximum height of 10 meters. The drone is very sensitive to wind and blows away easily, so it cannot fly too high. The flight time per battery is approximately 13 minutes. The Tello is mainly intended for racing and taking snapshots.
